Application of Atlas H100 Hydrogen-Powered UAV in Super High-Rise Curtain Wall Cleaning


In March 2024, a Shanghai skyscraper required annual curtain wall cleaning. The traditional (suspended platform solution) was inefficient (daily cleaning area only 200m²), risky, and required closing surrounding roads. Therefore, the project team adopted the Atlas H100 hydrogen-powered UAV, equipped with a 40kg load cleaning module (rotating brush + vacuum adsorption system) for high-altitude unmanned operations.

 

This UAV has a 2-hour continuous operation capability, with a single flight cleaning 500m² of curtain wall, far exceeding manual efficiency. Through real-time lidar modeling, the UAV precisely avoids glass joints and decorative structures, achieving a cleaning coverage rate of ≥99%. The hydrogen fuel cell is zero-emission, with noise below 65dB, meeting urban environmental requirements.

 

The implementation process includes three stages: 3D scanning, intelligent cleaning, and wastewater recycling. The UAV first scans the building’s facade to generate a cleaning path, then uses a two-UAV collaboration model: one for cleaning and one for quality monitoring. Cleaning wastewater is collected via a recycling device to prevent high-altitude dripping pollution.

 

Ultimately, the project completed full-building cleaning in just 7 days (compared to 30 days for the traditional plan), reducing comprehensive costs by 60% and achieving full-process zero high-altitude manual operations, completely eliminating fall risks. This case was promoted by the Shanghai Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission as a new standard for super high-rise building maintenance. In the future, the Atlas H100 can be expanded to photovoltaic panel cleaning, bridge inspection, and other fields, driving the intelligentization and unmanned development of high-altitude operations.
