The handheld electromagnetic flow velocity meter SVR, com- monly known as the "radar speed gun", is used in complex water situations such as rapid water flow, high sediment content, float- ing debris, and floods, where conventional flow meters may not work and it can be difficult to even deploy floating buoys. This instrument overcomes these adverse conditions by improving the instrument and is mainly used for field surveys and emergency measurements such as floods, dam breaches, breaches, and mud- slides. It is especially suitable for emergency measurement of flood peaks during the flood season. Its advantage is that it uses a long-distance, non-contact method to directly measure water surface flow velocity and calculates river flow velocity by convert- ing the water surface flow velocity coefficient.
